Name: Hunts-in-Shadow
Alias: Hsithek’r
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Race: Argonian
Faction(s): Dark Brotherhood
Class: Shadowscale
Specialization: Stealth
Skills:
Additional talents: Tracking skills, calligraphy, sewing
Appearance: Hunts-in-Shadow is covered in scaly red-and-black skin. It is black all along the back and on his lower body. His chest is ruddy, as are his palms and neck. His head is mostly black, with red markings around each eye. Where a human has hair, Hunts-in-Shadow has two long, straight horns that slightly curve towards the back of his head. His eyes are solid red, with snakelike slits for pupils. He has a thin, long reptilian face and pointed teeth in his mouth. His hands are long and thin, and his fingers end in claws. His feet are also clawed. He is a digitigrade, meaning he walks on only the tips of his long feet (like a dog). He has a thick tail, like all Argonians, that pokes through his clothes.
Apparel: Most of the time Hunts-in-Shadow wears the plain black robes of the Black Hand. The robe is hooded and without any decoration or emblem. Occasionally, he will change into more normal clothing. This outfit is a puffy black shirt with ruffled cuffs and a pair of black leggings with a thick black belt. He never wears shoes or boots. Hunts-in-Shadow also scorns his Dark Brotherhood armor, because he prefers to move uninhibited. He does wear a stone pendent. It is a polished black stone from his home in Blackmarsh that hangs from a cord. Finally, he wears a tarnished silver ring set with a black pearl that lets him detect life and see in the dark. This was to him for completing a particularly difficult Dark Brotherhood mission some time ago.
Weapons/Items: Hunts-in-Shadow fights with a bow most of the time. His personal bow is called Sithis’ Touch and has a minor absorb health enchantment. He commissioned it when he became a member of the Black Hand. He uses plain silver arrows with his bow, always making sure to carry lot of them. In case of situations where he cannot use his bow, Hunts-in-Shadow also carries a double-edged silver dagger that he coats with poison. In general, he does not carry too much else. He prefers to travel light. He will take a couple of healing scrolls, a bottle of poison and a flask of water on missions but little else. In his chamber he has a collection of several books.
Personality: Hunts-in-Shadow is quiet and thoughtful by nature. He prefers to listen more than to speak, though he doesn't hold back on his duties as Speaker in the Dark Brotherhood. As befits his job, he is passionate about the occult. He collects trophies from all of his victims and is a packrat in general, too. He likes obscure books, also, but his passion is his work. Hunts-in-Shadow takes pride in stalking his prey and in the kill. He has an unnerving stare that can make people nervous around him. He appears to blink less frequently than is normal. Plus his sinister appearance and manners make people wary of him. This does not bother the Shadowscale, since he was raised to be different from normal society. He has little use for friends outside the Dark Brotherhood. They, however, are his true family. He will go o great lengths to make sure his brothers and sisters are provided for in his sanctuary.
History: Hunts-in-Shadow was born under the sign of the Shadow, and like all children so born in Blackmarsh, he was raised as a Shadowscale to be later given to the Dark Brotherhood. The majority of Shadowscales did not survive their tough training, but Hunts-in-Shadow did so. Shortly after he was given to the Dark Brotherhood in Cyrodiil, treachery struck the assassin's guild. Hunts-in-Shadow was sixteen and new to the Brotherhood when a traitor emerged. A time of upheaval followed for a few years, since the majority of the Black Hand itself had been killed by the traitor's plot.
In the time of restructuring, Hunts-in-Shadow saw opportunity. He had a distinct advantage over his peers from his lifetime of training. He worked hard, took the most prestigious and challenging contracts, and was able to separate himself from the flock of regular assassins. By the age of nineteen he was the head of his own sanctuary, in Anvil, under one of the new Black Hand Speakers. As the years went by, Hunts-in-Shadow continued to prove himself one of the elite. When one of the Black Hand was killed during a contract, he was approached to join their ranks.
He accepted at once, and set up his own sanctuary in Leyawiin. He kept a private chamber for himself, inaccessible to the assassins below him. Since then, he has carried on business as usual. He has regular correspondence with the Listener in Bravil, and passes along contracts to his family in Leyawiin. On occasion, he keeps a particularly juicy contract for himself, of course. His final duty is one of the most crucial. As a Speaker, he is in charge of recruiting new members. He takes this responsibility seriously, but has a predisposition toward fellow Argonians.
